Calling all age group athletes!

Do you know that if you’re a Singaporean or Singapore PR, you can qualify to represent SGP at the World Triathlon Age Group World Championships? You will be racing against top age group athletes from across the globe, and you might be crowned the World Triathlon World Champion in your Age Group!

Eligibility:

1. Singapore Citizen (or Singapore PR for at least 3 years)

2. Paid up individual member of Triathlon Singapore

3. Has not represented another National Federation in the current calendar year.

4. Had finished in the top 10 of your Age Group at any local sanctioned races.

5. For draft-legal races, must have completed a draft-legal endorsement by TAS

6. Complete Pre-Participation Examination.

Self-Funded:

Athletes will have to bear the following costs:

1. Travel and Accommodation

2. Race entry fee (through Triathlon Singapore)

2. Travel insurance and any other relevant insurance

3. Team Uniform (Race Suit and Team TS Polo Tee)

Process:

  1. Athletes ensure they are eligible.
  2. Email to (eugene.ong@triathlonsingapore.org) at least 45 days before the race, indicating their intent to race.
  3. Athlete will be entered onto the wait list via the WT online entry system.
  4. WT will generate the Start List, 30 days before the race.
  5. TAS will notify athletes of the results.
  6. Athletes can opt to participate in the TAS funding model.
  7. Athletes can proceed with their travel arrangements once their name is approved to the Start List.
  8. Withdrawal from start list: athletes should immediately email to TAS to request withdrawal. A penalty might be imposed by WT, which may include a ban from any start list for the next 30 days.

Notice: Change in Appointments

In a strategic move for the new year with new challenges, the Triathlon Association of Singapore (TAS) will be discontinuing the TAS Technical Director role. The responsibilities of the Technical Director role will be absorb into the High Performance Sub-Committee which continues to be lead by Mr James Middleditch.  

With effect from 1st Jan 2022, Mr Eugene Lee will relinquish his role as Technical Director (Part Time Contract). We would like to thank Mr Eugene Lee for his dedication and commitment to TAS and to the development of the sport of triathlon in Singapore and the region.

Notice of Annual General Meeting

Notice is hereby given that the 2021 Annual General Meeting of Triathlon Association of Singapore will be held on Tuesday, 28 September 2021 at 7.00pm, via electronic means.

Agenda:

  1. Welcome Address
  2. To approve and confirm the minutes of the 2020 Annual General Meeting held on 25 September 2020.
  3. To approve and confirm the Annual Report for the year ending 31 March 2021.
  4. To approve and confirm the Statement of Accounts for the year ending 31 March 2021.
  5. To approve the proposed amendments to the Constitution
  6. To appoint the external Auditor for the ensuing Year – 1st April 2021 to 31 March 2022.
  7. To transact any other business, in accordance to TAS Constitution Clause 6.2 d – “…at least seven days’ notice in writing shall be given by member/s to the Honorary Secretary…”

Important Notes:

  • An affiliate member may appoint up to 3 delegates to attend the 2021 AGM. The delegates may only attend the AGM by observing and listening to the proceedings of the meeting by electronic means. To RSVP, please complete the Form A and send via email to eugene.ong@triathlonsingapore.org by 7.00pm on Monday, 20 September 2021.
  • An affiliate member can table a resolution for AGM, with at least 7 days’ notice given to the Honorary Secretary. To table a resolution, please complete the Form A and send via email to eugene.ong@triathlonsingapore.org by 7.00pm on Monday, 20 September 2021.
  • If you have any questions to raise with regards to any items on the agenda, please complete the Form B and send via email to eugene.ong@triathlonsingapore.org by 7.00pm on Monday, 20 September 2021.
  • Voting is required to pass any resolutions tabled at the 2021 AGM. Only Ordinary Member have voting rights, and may vote by appointing the Chairman of the meeting as the member’s proxy to vote at the 2021 AGM. Ordinary Members are to complete Form C (Proxy Voting Form) and submit to eugene.ong@triathlonsingapore.org by 7.00pm on Saturday, 25 September 2021.

2021 SEA Games Duathlon & Triathlon – Selection Process

Triathlon Singapore will be conducting selection trials and races to select athletes for representation at the 31st SEA Games, Hanoi Vietnam.

  • Duathlon Selection Race – 21 March 2021 (Top 2 Men & Top 2 Women)
  • Triathlon Selection Race – 11 April 2021 (Top 2 Men & Top 2 Women)

There will be 2 pre-selection time trials:

Time Trial 1 (For Triathlon & Duathlon)

  • Format – 10km Run Trial
  • Date – 7 March 2021, Sunday
  • Time – 8am
  • Venue – TBC
  • Note – Top 10 athletes (per gender) for Duathlon, will advance to Duathlon Selection Race.

Time Trial 2 (For Triathlon)

  • Format – 1500m Swim Trial
  • Date – 27 March 2021, Sunday
  • Time – TBC
  • Venue – TBC
  • Note – Taking the total timings (10km run + 1500m swim), top 10 athletes 9per gender) will advance to Triathlon Selection Race.

Athletes Eligibility

  • Singapore Citizen
  • 18 years of age as of 31 December 2021
  • Paid up member of Triathlon Singapore
  • In good Standing with Triathlon Singapore and its affiliate partners
  • Must must completed a competitive Triathlon/Duathlon Race before in the last 24 months (at least Sprint Distance)
  • Must have raced in a World Triathlon draft legal race in the last 24 months, or have to undergo draft-legal cycling endorsement before 7 March 2021 (Fees applies)

Registration of Interest – All interested and eligible athletes must register their interest to participate in selection latest by 3 March 2021. They are to attach their sporting resume.

(Note: If an athlete needs to do a draft-legal cycling endorsement, please register interest at least 1 week before the closing date of 3 March 2021. This is to ensure that a coach is available to conduct the test prior to 3 March 2021)

Important Notes:

  • Who can attend AGM via Zoom? Each affiliate member may assigned 1 representative to attend the AGM. The assigned representative can only observe and listen to the proceedings.
  • Who can nominate a candidate for election to the TAS Management Committee? Any paid up individual member or affiliate member’s representative (the proposer), can nominate a candidate. The nomination form must be signed by the proposer and a seconder, who must also be a paid up individual member.
  • Who can be a candidate for election to the TAS Management Committee? Any paid up individual member who is above the age of 18 years old can be a candidate.
  • Who can table a resolution for AGM? Any affiliate member can table a resolution for AGM.
  • Who can vote for nominees of the AGM election and resolution to be pass during AGM? Only ordinary member have voting rights.

Advisory for Resumption of Triathlon Activities for Phase Two (“Safe Transition”)

Sport Singapore has been engaging the national sports associations that govern the various sports in Singapore on the safe management measures for their particular sport. The Government bodies of these sports will be publishing their endorsed safe management plans on their websites and on Sport Singapore website.

ITU Coach Education Development Program

Triathlon Singapore is inviting coaches to apply for the 2020 ITU Coach Education Program

Applicants should meet the minimum criteria:

Requirements

  1. Only Singapore citizens need to apply
  2. Full NROC membership under Triathlon with at least 1 year (since 31st March 2019)
  3. Paid-up as a financial member of TAS of at least 1-year validity  (since 31st March 2019)
  4.  Valid endorsed Triathlon Singapore’s “Coaches Code of Conduct”
  5. Does not possess any past or current disciplinary conduct issues compromising their position of good standing with the NSA
  6. Evidence of active coaching in Triathlon of at least 1 year.  (since 31st March 2019)
  7. Minimum 10 hours of coaching contribution to TS
  8. Commitment to develop youth and junior athletes
  9. Submission with a write up in 500 words on your long term personal coaching plans
  10. Demonstrate a high level of spoken and written skills in the English language.
  11. Commitment to attend 100% of the course
  12. Ability to complete all online tasks, will require access to a computer with internet access, in order to use the ITU Education Hub.
  13. Proper progression in the pathway: ITU Level 1 certification before proceeding to ITU level 2.
  14. Responsible for all costs of air tickets, meals, and accommodations (if necessary)

 

Process of Selection:

Candidates will be selected base on the above following requirements, but not limited to

  1. Language capabilities, inability to communicate will reduce the impact and value of the course.
  2. Equality, to provide opportunities across all members, in terms of race or gender.
  3. Current Engagement with the community, coaches that have contributed positively to the triathlon community in Singapore, and/or have shown evidence of having positively coaching and developing youth, junior, U23 or Elite athletes, will be given preference
  4. Approval by TS MC for their nomination
