2019 SEA Games Selection Policy

The 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games will be held in Manila from 30 November to 10 December 2019. It had been announced that Triathlon and Duathlon will be included for medal contention.

Triathlon Focus Group Discussion for Multi Year Strategic Planning

Dear Athletes, Partners and Members of the Triathlon Family,

Greetings from TAS! It is our hope to be able to communicate and understand current perceptions, identify gaps, learn, gather information, and in the process establish a National Aligned Strategic Plan for the Sport of Triathlon in Singapore.

As we embark on a strategic planning exercise for our upcoming Multi-year Sports planning* with Sport Singapore, TAS is keen to take this opportunity to seek your inputs and work with you and the larger fraternity to establish a comprehensive plan to grow and enhance the sporting ecosystem for triathlon here in Singapore.  We are excited at this opportunity to engage with members and are looking forward to hearing your needs and ideas for triathlon and its overall, development, promotion and support in Singapore

The 2018 Annual General Meeting will transact the following business: –

  1. Welcome Address
  2. To approve and confirm the minutes of the 2017 Annual General Meeting.
  3. To approve and confirm the Annual Report for the year ending 31 March 2018.
  4. To approve and confirm the Annual Statement of Accounts for the year ending 31 March 2018
  5. Election of the Executive and Management Committee for the next term (2019 to 2020)
  6. To appoint the external Auditor for the ensuing Year – 1st April 2018 to 31 March 2019.
  7. Any Other Business

Singapore Duathlon 2019 – Talent Identification for SEA Games 2019 (Duathlon)

Singapore Duathlon 2019 – Talent Identification for SEA Games 2019 (Duathlon)

The 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games will be held in Manila from 30 November to 10 December 2019. It had been announced that Duathlon (Standard Distance) will be one of the medal events at the 2019 SEA Games!

The *Singapore Duathlon 2019* held on *20 January 2019* will be used as a Talent Identification race for the selection of outstanding and potential athletes into the National HPE duathlon program.

Athletes interested in representing their Nation at the SEA Games, in the sport of Duathlon, shall take note of the following:

Athletes Eligibility:

  1. Singapore Citizen
  2. At least 18 years of age as of 31 December 2019
  3. Participate in the Standard Distance Category
  4. Usage of a Road Bike for the race (Time Trial bikes are not allowed)

Instructions:

  1. Register for the Singapore Duathlon 2019 – Standard Distance (www.singaporeduathlon.com)
  2. Send an email of intent to eugene.ong@triathlonsingapore.org latest by 20 December 2018.
  3. Include in your email the following documents:
  • – Athletes’ Profile form
  • – Sports CV (if any) – to include past results from duathlon, triathlon races, or individual bike or run races

Daniel Sng assigned to Dongdaihe Asian Cup

Daniel Sng, was assigned to the 2018 Dongdaihe ASTC Triathlon Asian Cup as Technical Delegate, which took place in Liaoning Province, China on 30th June 2018.

2018 Age Group World Championships – Standard Distance

Updates on registration:

Closing date for registration for Sprint and Standard World Championships closes 4 August 2018

For the Age Group Standard Distance World Championships, since the qualifying event will be held on 29 July (Tri-Factor Triathlon), Age Groupers whom wishes to participate in the 2018 Age Group World Championships in Gold Coast, must write in to eugene.ong@triathlonsingapore.org to indicate your intent, by 11 July 2018. 

Those that qualified on the 29 July Tri-Factor Triathlon, but had not send in their email indication of intent by 11 July 2018, your slot cannot be guaranteed.

Registrations for the 2018 Age Group World Championships is now open. Have you qualified?

Eligibility Checklist:

• Entry is open to Singaporean nationals and PR (resident in Singapore for a minimum of 3 years)
• Athletes must be members of the Triathlon Association of Singapore. To apply, please visit here.
• Athletes must not have represented another National Federation in the current calendar year.
• Sprint Distance (Draft-Legal) – Athletes must have qualified via the Metasprint Triathlon NTC Race 1, held on 15 April 2018 (Completed). For more info, please visit here.
• Standard Distance (Draft-Illegal) – Athletes can qualify via the Trifactor Triathlon NTC Race 2, to be held on 29 July 2018. For more info, please visit here.

How to register:

• For Age Group Sprint World Championships, qualified athletes would have received an email invitation. If you’d qualified, but have not received any invitations, please write in to eugene.ong@triathlonsingapore.org
• For Age Group Standard World Championships, athletes can qualify via the Trifactor Triathlon NTC Race 2 on 29 July 2018, by coming in Top 10 & within 10% of winner’s time, in their age group.
• Registration for the Age Group World Championships can only be done via TAS. An email instructions will be send to you if you’d qualified.

Discretionary

• Athletes may request for a discretionary slot if they falls in the following category:
• Athletes whom are outside of the Top 10 or not within 10% of winner’s time, but close
• Singaporeans residing overseas, whom are not able to race in the 2 qualifying races. Validated race results within a 1 year period is required to be submitted to TAS for verification of competency.

Race Requirements:

ITU Competition Rules and Regulation Applies.
• Please ensure your bike is compliant to ITU rules for Sprint Draft-Legal and Standard Draft-Illegal.
• Athletes are required to have an ITU Compliant Race suit: ITU Logo, Country Code, Back Zipper, Approved NF color and design.
• Fully Self Fund: Entry Fees, Travel Insurance, Travel and Accommodation, Team Uniform.

Our Technical Officials in Subic Bay

Cecilia Monis, Denise Wong and Eugene Ong served as Technical Officials (TO) in the recent YOG Qualifiers / Southeast Asian Triathlon Championships held in Subic Bay on 17 June. The TO Team was led by Technical Delegate, Melody Tan from Malaysia.
